Update Square

Alan Redhouse of Eyetech released these pictures of the AmigaOne. One is a one of the bench-configured 7451@800 -XE also, a dual 7410 CPU module for the -XE similar to the one the Friedens (at Hyperion) currently have.

  • Enough A1-XE's and G4 modules (800MHz 7451 with 32+32k L1 256 L2 & 2M 64/72bit L3) to more than satisfy all earlybird orders have already been built and are currently in Taiwan waiting to ship.
  • All these boards are fitted with the new Articia chipset (date code 0103).

Editor's note: Some beta-testers have already received their A1XE/G4 boards.

Entry Level Amigans

Readers of my column in the UKs weekly computer magazine, MicroMart, will be very aware of my stance on the true home of the Amiga. But for those of you lucky enough to have avoided my ranting thus far, you can no longer escape, heh heh.

DEFINITION OF A HOME COMPUTER (according to someone who has been retailing computers and software since 1990):

  1. A home computer is a machine that has all the simplicity of a games console but the capabilities, power and potential of a "real computer" at a price between that of a games console and a PC.
  2. A jack of all computing and computer leisure trades, and master of most of them.
